THE GRAND SUMMER AFTERNOON TEA

A taste of this city

Served Wed-Sun 2pm - 4.30pm

Edinburgh doesn't just inspire our Summer Afternoon Tea, it flavours it. Every bite on this menu is rooted in the city that surrounds you: the botanicals of Edinburgh Gin curled through a rhubarb meringue tart, the chalky sweetness of Edinburgh Rock crushed into frosting and scattered across a layered vanilla sponge, the warmth of Glengoyne whisky rippling through a Highland cranachan made for sharing.

These aren't just ingredients. They're Edinburgh landmarks you can eat.

THE STORY BEHIND THE MENU

Edinburgh Rock Cake

Edinburgh Rock has been a fixture of this city since the Victorian era - the kind of chalky, sugary confection you find wrapped in paper bags along the Royal Mile. We've taken that most recognisable of Edinburgh souvenirs and crushed it into a zesty lemon and popping candy frosting, layered it through a vanilla sponge then scattered it with freeze-dried raspberries. Something you remember from childhood, reimagined for an afternoon on the fourth floor.

Edinburgh Gin Rhubarb Meringue Tart

Edinburgh has become one of the world's great gin cities, and Edinburgh Gin's Rhubarb expression is among its finest. Here it becomes a vivid, sharp curd beneath a cloud of torched Italian meringue - the moment where our cocktail bar roots meet the patisserie stand. Elegant, unmistakably of this place.

Highland Cranachan

Scotland's national dessert, and the heart of the table. Fresh cream, raspberries, oats and heather honey - made for sharing, with an optional measure of Glengoyne 12 whisky for those who want it. Cranachan is deeply nostalgic for anyone who grew up here, and a genuine introduction to Scottish flavour for those visiting. The whisky is optional. The joy is not.

Tipsy Laird Choux

The Tipsy Laird is Scotland's answer to trifle - a Burns Night staple built on whisky, cream and raspberries. We've reimagined it as a choux bun: Scottish whisky custard mousse, strawberry jam ripple, dried raspberries, toasted almonds. All the warmth of the original, in one elegant bite.

The Savouries

Our savoury selection reflects Edinburgh as it actually is - a confident, cosmopolitan European capital. Alongside Scottish smoked salmon and coronation chicken, you'll find lamb kofta with crème fraîche, goat's cheese mousse with roast red peppers, and corn cake with spiced mango salsa. This is a city that looks outward as well as inward, and so does our menu.
