THE GRAND AUTUMN AFTERNOON TEA

Served Sat–Sun 12.30pm–4pm

As Edinburgh turns golden, our Afternoon Tea changes with it. This season’s menu takes its cues from autumn in Scotland: orchard fruit, warming spice, rich treacle, dark chocolate and ingredients drawn from across the country.

Pumpkin becomes an elegant cheesecake; treacle and Seville orange bring warmth and citrus to a delicate mousse tart; while Edinburgh apple brandy meets dark chocolate in our autumnal take on an opera cake. On the savoury side, Isle of Mull Cheddar gives a distinctly Scottish edge to our broccoli and tarragon quiche.

It’s a menu inspired by colder days, changing colours and the flavours of Scotland at this time of year.

Welcome to autumn on the fourth floor where we welcome the crisp mornings, the darker evenings and the warm feelings from our Ishga candles.

THE STORY BEHIND THE MENU

Pumpkin Cheesecake

Few flavours signal the arrival of autumn quite like pumpkin. We’ve transformed it into a smooth, delicately spiced cheesecake, finished with a biscuit crumb topping for a little crunch. Rich without being heavy, it brings all the warmth of the season to the Afternoon Tea stand.

Treacle & Seville Orange Mousse Tart

Dark treacle and orange are made for this time of year. Here, the deep caramel notes of traditional treacle are lifted by the distinctive bittersweet sharpness of Seville orange, brought together in a light mousse tart. Familiar autumn flavours, given a more elegant finish.

Edinburgh Apple Brandy & Dark Chocolate Opera Cake

Our nod to Edinburgh comes in layers. Apple brandy brings the character of autumn orchards to a classic opera cake, paired with rich dark chocolate for a dessert that feels made for colder afternoons in the city. A little Edinburgh, a little French patisserie, and very much at home on the fourth floor.

Broccoli, Tarragon & Isle of Mull Cheddar Quiche

The savoury side of the menu has its own Scottish accent. Isle of Mull Cheddar brings depth and richness to our broccoli and tarragon quiche offering a comforting, seasonal taste of one of Scotland’s best-known farmhouse cheeses.

The Savouries

Our savoury selection reflects Edinburgh as it actually is – a confident, cosmopolitan European capital. Alongside smoked salmon with capers on rye and a classic chicken and bacon brioche club, you'll find broccoli and tarragon quiche with Isle of Mull Cheddar, cucumber with dill and lemon crème fraîche, and corn cake with spiced mango salsa. This is a city that looks outward as well as inward, and so does our menu.
